NIHON KAIRALI KERALEEYAM Award Announcement


NIHON KAIRALI has been operating in Japan for the last thirty-plus years.  During these years we have seen many Japanese citizens getting interested in Kerala culture and arts. Some outstanding people took this interest to the next level and they dedicated their life to learn our culture and arts in-depth, make it practice in their life.  Further, they are also actively promoting and spreading Indian culture and arts in Japan. NIHON KAIRALI, being an organization for Keralites in Japan, realized that it is time for us to recognize and admire their dedication and outstanding work in Japan through instituting an award for them from this year.   

NIHON KAIRALI is very happy to announce that Ms. Maruhashi Hiromi has been selected for the prestigious 1st NIHON KAIRALI KERALEEYAM AWARD for her contributions in promoting Kerala culture and arts in Japan. Congratulations Ms. Maruhashi Hiromi !!

Ms. Hiromi was born in Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture, Japan. She learned Mohiniyattam under the instruction of Dr. Kalamandalam Leelamma and completed a course on Mohiniyattam at Kerala Kalamandalam, a public institute for art and culture. She further learned Nangiarkoothu under the instruction of late Margi Sathi. She learned classical martial arts - Kalari Payat at CVN Kalari. She was selected as an artist in an overseas internship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan in 2001. She established Kerala Planning in April 1999, a cultural project designed to spread the performing arts of Kerala; Mohiniyattam, Koodiyattam, Nangiarkoothu, Kerala Natanam, and Kathakali, throughout Japan.

The award will be presented by H.E. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India to Japan, Embassy of India, Tokyo and felicitations will be by Yogendra Puranik (Yogi), City Councilor, Edogawa City Council (Tokyo).

Awards will be given during the NIHON KAIRALI ONAM Celebrations.

Date: Saturday, 28th September 2019

 

Inauguration ceremony: 2:00pm~2:15 pm

Award ceremony: 2:15 pm ~ 2:45 pm

Cultural programs: 2:45 pm ~ 6:30 pm
